I started my MJ-LEL journey in January of 2022 with more than 13 years of experience in human resources. As a life-long learner, I knew I didn't have all the answers and I knew I wanted to learn more by succeeding in this program.
Something interesting that I did not expect was how I would begin to think and read differently as a result of this program. Reading statutes can be a dizzying affair; eyes glazing over shortly after beginning. Now I find myself reading and re-reading lines, looking for the "ands," "ors," "mays," and "musts" in the language. With that mindset shift, one also becomes more deliberate when speaking in terms of law, taking care to not speak in absolutes one way or another.
I'm enjoying this new skill and have already put it to use professionally and personally.
