I began my career in Human Resources as a Nurse recruiter in 2004. Since then, I have worked in various roles in Human Resources, including Director of Labor and Employment Relations and VP of HR for a hospital system in Kentucky. It was in this role where I discovered my passion for employment and labor law. I considered entering a JD program but knew that I did not want to practice law, but desired to have a deeper understanding of it. After some searching, I found the Tulane MJ-LEL program and decided to enter in 2018.
In 2019, I got married, moved to Louisiana, and started working for a new organization. I decided to pause my studies at that time to focus on all the changes. I reentered the program in 2023 and plan to graduate in may of 2024.
I am now Senior Vice President of Human Resources for a health system in Louisiana. In my spare time (lol), my husband and I run a small restaurant in New Orleans. This degree program has provided me with additional confidence in decision making and having tough discussions with other executives and board members. It has also helped me establish sound HR policies for our business. I highly recommend this program for anyone who has a passion for HR and its legal aspects but may not want to practice law.
