Laura Jackson Capstonian Introduction

Greetings! My name is Laura Jackson, and I am an ambitious HR professional in my last semester of Tulane's MJ-LEL program. I currently live in the suburbs of Metro-Detroit with my husband, three children, and our dog, Rocky. I started my journey into HR by working as a recruiter in the staffing industry, eventually working my way through the path of HR supervisor, HR manager, and currently serve as Director of Human Resources for an industrial air filtration company. I am passionate about employee engagement and culture, succession planning and career pathing, and diversity and inclusion. I hold a B.B.A with a concentration in management from Northwood University and I'm looking forward to completing my degree from Tulane which will enable to pursue my dream of HR consulting.

I joined the MJ-LEL program after sitting second chair as an HR Manager in CBA negotiations with the UAW. The experience, while interesting, quickly made me realize how much I had to learn in the space of labor relations. The challenging and robust curriculum in this program has helped me to increase my confidence as an HR professional with a more comprehensive grasp of the law as it pertains to the field of human resources. I look forward to the opportunity to share my knowledge as well as gain more knowledge through collaboration with other human resource and legal professionals.

Cheers!
